We are actively searching for individuals who can speak Russian and/or any of the following languages fluently: Albanian, Azeri, Bulgarian, Georgian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Macedonian, Moldovan, Mongolian, Polish, Slovak, Slovene, Ukrainian or Uzbek language. As one of the main contacts for Russian language speakers, we would like to ask you to forward this message to people who might be interested in the NOC/NPC Assistant volunteer position.
Please find below a detailed description and the requirements of the NOC/NPC Assistant Volunteer Position. Important: We are having our last interview sessions on Tuesday, February 10th , 2009. In order to volunteer in this position, people need to attend one of these sessions.

Volunteer Position Description
NOC/NPC Assistant
Position Title:
National Olympic Committee/National Paralympic Committee Assistant
Number of Positions:
Approximately 800 required for Olympic Winter Games / 200 for Paralympic Winter Games
Position Description
As an NOC or NPC Assistant, you will work with a team of volunteers assigned to a specific National Olympic/Paralympic Committee (NOC/NPC) during the Games. Strong language skills, extensive availability, and willingness to drive a VANOC vehicle are all requirements of this role. You will work from one of the Olympic or Paralympic Villages (Vancouver or Whistler), and support team officials and other members of the delegation to which you are assigned.
Responsibilities:
* Provide language support and interpretation for the delegation when required
* Facilitate communication between VANOC and your assigned NOC or NPC
* Support the delegation by finding information, answering questions, anticipating needs, and solving problems
* Provide administrative support to the delegation as required
* Act as a reliable, responsible and safe driver of a VANOC vehicle between the Olympic or Paralympic Villages, competition sites, non-competition sites and throughout Vancouver and/or Whistler
* Assist with delegation check-in and check-out of the Olympic or Paralympic Villages
* Other duties may be assigned by the delegation as required
Position Requirements
Skills/Attitudes:
* Ability to deliver exceptional client service
* Basic administrative skills (popular computer software, faxing, filing, photocopying, making phone calls)
* Comfortable using a cell phone (voicemail, text messaging, incoming and outgoing calls)
* Excellent knowledge of the city, venues, roads, attractions and amenities available
* Excellent navigational and safe driving skills
* Enthusiastic, energetic and excited to support and cheer for different countries and nationalities
* Appreciates multi-cultural environments and demonstrates sensitivity to other cultures
* Professional, courteous and reliable
* Demonstrates patience, flexibility and understanding during change.
Certificates, Designations, Languages:
* Fluent in English language
* Intermediate or fluent skill in the language of the NOC or NPC
* Licensed Class 5 driver

This is just a reminder that school is not in session on Saturday,November 17th, 2007.
We invite you all to visit the RCC Christmas Bazaar that Saturday from 12 to 4 pm to feel the Christmas spirit with Russian flavor, to buy a presents, try delicious food from our kitchen or get lucky with our free lottery.
Secondary school students will have the opportunity to get Community Service hours in exchange of their help in the kitchen or in the the hall during the Bazaar.

Next Saturday, November 3rd, 2007 from 10am to 12:30 pm we will have “The Fall celebration” event for the students Grade 0am - 4. Everyone welcome! Students will perform plays, songs, circles, poems and even an improv show. After 12:30 classes in session as usual. Grade 5-7 will have their regular classes from 10 am to 3 pm. 0pm comes at 1:30 as usual .
